Bethel's Co-Senior Pastor Beni Johnson Dies

Bethel Church's co-senior pastor Beni Johnson has died on July 13th after a bout with cancer. She was 67 years-old. Bethel Church is a megachurch in Redding, California with over 11,000 members. The church has its own music labels, Bethel Music and Jesus Culture ministries, which have gained popularity for contemporary worship music.
Beni's son Brian Johnson writes, "My mom went home tonight. Love you mom!"
Beni Johnson first revealed that she was being treated for cancer in 2018. At the time, she said the diagnosis "shocked" her.
"When this all began in March and I walked out of the doctor's office shocked. I asked Jesus, 'what do I do now?' I heard Jesus tell me, 'just love me'. I said, 'I can do this'. There has been so much peace and at times those decisions that have to be made the peace has helped me navigate through," Johnson revealed in a series of Facebook posts at the time.
During that season of surgeries, it was discovered that Johnson had a mutation on her BR2 gene, which puts her at a high risk of developing breast, ovarian and other cancers.
Beni Johnson is a mother to Bethel Church and had been for over 25 years. She had led the charge in a passionate pursuit of prayer for the entire movement, and had taught many to intercede with joy and confidence. She had led both from the front and behind the scenes. She had consistently made herself known in the spirit as a warrior, a fighter, and a woman of love and truth. For decades, she had contended for the church, and for the global Church, in prayer.
