Willie Nelson Returns to His Spiritual and Family Roots with "Family Bible"
Country music veteran Willie Nelson will be returning to his family and spiritual roots with his new album The Willie Nelson Family, set for release on November 19th via Sony Legacy Recordings. The first single to be released off the new record is "Family Bible," which was one of Willie's earliest original songs. It was written in 1957 and is among several of his compositions recorded for the new album.
The song "Family Bible" speaks of the importance of reading the Bible in the home. Nelson recalls the joy of such times in the lyrics, "At the end of day when work was over/And when the evenin' meal was done/Dad would read to us from the family Bible/And we'd count our many blessings, one by one."
Produced by Willie and Steve Chadie, the album was recorded at Pedernales Studios in Austin, Texas. Among the other songs making up the tracklist are covers of Hank Williams' "I Saw The Light," Kris Kristofferson's "Why Me," the traditional hymn "In The Garden," and with Lukas singing lead, George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" and A.P. Carter's "Keep It On The Sunnyside."
Joining Nelson on vocals are Nelson's sons Lukas (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, lead vocals, background vocals) and Micah (drums, bass, background vocals), his sister Bobbie (piano), and his daughters Paula (background vocals) and Amy (background vocals).
