Fresh Sounds: New Music from Casting Crowns, Mac Powell and Koryn Hawthorne

Today, Casting Crowns, Mac Powell and Koryn Hawthorne have all dropped new singles. Here's our chance to catch up with the latest music releases.
1. Casting Crowns release their first brand new song, "Scars in Heaven" today. This song is the debut song from the forthcoming new studio album, which will release in November. Co-written by frontman Mark Hall and Matthew West, Hall began writing this song while watching his mom care for her parents as they passed away.
"Being a pastor and walking people through loss, there is this moment when we are suddenly very aware of their absence," shares Mark Hall. "The world seems quieter. You realize you're not going to hear their voice again. And in those moments, you feel the last moments of their life here. You may recall there was pain and there was suffering and there was a tragedy or there was weakness or there were wrong choices and your mind is cluttered with the last thing you remember."
2. Mac Powell, former frontman of the four-time GRAMMY Award-winning band Third Day, has released his new song, "River of Life," available today. This song is from his forthcoming solo album, which will be on his new label Capitol Christian Music Group.
"It's interesting that within the medical community the bloodstream is called the 'River of Life,'" shares Mac Powell. "We as believers know that our TRUE life comes from the grace and mercy of Jesus - poured out from his sacrifice on the cross. In John chapter 4, Jesus shares with the woman at the well - Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Let us all partake in this River of Life that is given by our Savior!"
3. Two-time GRAMMY®-nominated gospel artist Koryn Hawthorne returns with her soulful take on Jonathan Butler's gospel classic, "Falling in Love with Jesus."
"This song is so special to me because it's what I live for. Regardless of life's circumstances the love and comfort of Jesus has pulled me through," said Koryn Hawthorne. "Releasing this song during Black Music Month is also important to me because Gospel music is the foundation of Black American music, and the message is a reminder of healing and strength."
