3 Seasoned Songwriters Release their Own Singles

Kenna Turner West, Jonas Myrin, and Mitch Wong are names that may not be familiar to the average music listener. But together they have written for many artists in Christian music. West, Myrin and Wong have recently branch out to record their own music.
Kenna Turner West, who has written songs for Jason Crabb, Hillary Scott, The Martins, The Crabb Family, The Isaacs, The Booth Brothers, Triumphant Quartet, The Collingsworth Family, and many others, has released her new single with Horizon Records. "I'm Not Who I Was" is a contemplative ballad that reveals both her creative and interpretive powers.
"While 'I'm Not Who I Was' is a very personal song, the lyrics are true for every believer in Christ," West says. "The song reminds us that we are all a work in process, with God transforming us 'from glory to glory.' It also reminds us that what we see when we look at our lives is very different from what God sees through the finished work of the cross. I cried the day we wrote it, and I cry nearly every time I sing it!"

Meanwhile, Jonas Myrin, who has written songs for Hillsong Worship, Matt Redman, Barbra Streisand, Phil Wickham, Steven Curtis Chapman, and many others, has released "For The Ones We Love," with Capitol CMG. A truly international affair, the track was co-written by Jonas and Grammy nominated songwriter Sam Ellis (Lady A, Ingrid Andress), co-produced in Sweden with Elias Kapari (Kygo, Icona Pop), and features the string orchestrations of Erik Arvinder (Childish Gambino, John Legend), conducting the Stockholm Symphony. Jonas acknowledges the role of music in these anxiety-ridden times: "We all need hope right now. I want to remind people that no matter what we're facing or going through, love is greater. Together, we can overcome anything."

Mitch Wong, best known for his work with Planetshakers, has recently moved from Australia to the US, where he now works as a staff writer for Integrity Music. With artists such as Lincoln Brewster, Darlene Zschech,BJ Putnam, Chris McClarney, Neon Feather and many others cutting his songs, Wong has also started releasing his own music as a soloist. His latest single is the worship song "Reputation."
Wong writes: "Incredibly grateful for all the kind messages, I have been so encouraged - thank you! If this song has helped you remember even one good thing about God, then mission complete. He is so so good and you can trust Him TODAY with anything that you are facing, with anything that you're walking through, with any need that you are desperate for. Have faith in who He is and what the Word teaches us He can do!"
