Daniel Radcliffe Leaves Harry Potter Behind in His New Role as the Devil in the Movie "Horns"
Daniel Radcliffe has always been clear that he is not reluctant to put Harry Potter far behind him, and he may have finally done it for good with his new starring role in the fantasy horror film "Horns."
The film is based on the successful novel of the same name by acclaimed author Joe Hill. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and was picked up by Dimension Films & Radius to be distributed in the U.S. The film is directed by horror guru Alexandre Aja, the mind behind the 2006 remake of "The Hills Have Eyes" and "Haute Tension."
The story centers on Ignatius Perrish (Radcliffe), who becomes a pariah in the eyes of his friends and family after he is falsely accused of raping and murdering his girlfriend. In an attempt to cope with his lonely and terrible year, Ig indulges in a night of drunken debauchery, only to wake up and discover that he has sprouted a pair of horns right out of the top of his head. Not only that, but Ig also discovers that anyone who comes near him will immediately be forced to spill their most ugly thoughts, feelings, and desires. He is quite literally serving as the "devil on your shoulder" by encouraging people to act on these desires.
Radcliffe, after time spent on Broadway and in the film "Kill Your Darlings," sounds like a true American, and the film looks very promising based on his performance alone.
Also set to star in the film are Heather Graham, Max Minghella, and Joe Anderson. "Horns" will debut in the U.K. on October 31, 2014. No U.S. release date has been announced, but fans of Radcliffe and horror alike speculate that we may see the film sometime next summer. In the meantime, you can watch the trailer here.
