"Some people like to have the TV or radio on as background noise. It helps them feel less alone. But I don't need the talking heads or the static...there's a constant hum of voices in my head...fighting to be heard, shaping my future thoughts and actions with their insistent murmur. If the goal is to find clarity, then this song speaks to the fact that clarity is not found in the noise, hustle or striving for it. No. Clarity is found in the silence, not the scream," expressed Jon Foreman.
Earlier this month, SWITCHFOOT released the album's title track, which "delivers strong, raspy vocals; pulsing drums; and a bass-bending beat that sounds contemporary and classic all at once. And lyrically, reminds listeners of the purpose of their existence: to love others (PluggedIn/Kristin Smith)."Paste Magazine debuted the Native Tongue album art as well as the YouTube Premiere of the dynamic music video for "Native Tongue."
Through poignant lyrics, the title track showcases the band's hope that the new album "would be a reminder that there are new streams available for us to travel down, and that hatred is not our language, love is our native tongue."SWITCHFOOT also announced the North American leg of the Native Tongue Tour, which kicks off in Asheville, N.C. on Feb. 14th. (Full list of dates below). Colony House and Tyson Motsenbocker will join SWITCHFOOT as supporting acts. Tickets are on sale now.

The 14-song project, recorded primarily at Melody League Studios in the band's hometown of San Diego, Calif., includes a wide array of music from the hard-hitting anthemic title-track to more reflective songs such as "Prodigal Soul," "Joy Invincible," and "Voices." The band interlace empathy and introspection, urging us to "use our lungs for love and not the shadows." Native Tongue also features a moving collaboration with Kaela Sinclair on "The Hardest Art."
