Millions Anticipated To Take Part In Global Hymn Sing Hosted by the Gettys

On Sunday, June 25, millions of Christians around the world are anticipated to take part in the second annual Global Hymn Sing hosted by Getty Music in partnership with OMF International, an interdenominational mission founded as the China Inland Mission in 1865, as well as Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Participants in thousands of churches in more than 100 countries will sing the new hymn from Keith & Kristyn Getty, "For The Cause," which was written as an urgent call to mission and Christian service. In many of the churches taking part, children will lead the congregation in the hymn sing.
Sheet music, lyrics and audio to "For The Cause" will be provided free for the Global Hymn Sing event, with translations available including English, Japanese, Hindi, German and Chinese. Participating churches are invited to have their children lead the congregation in the event, and the Gettys have also made a children's version of the song available for that purpose.
In 2016, the Gettys and OMF International hosted the first Global Hymn Sing, which took place on Sunday, February 21. An estimated 1.1 million people in 100 countries joined together to sing an updated version of the Frank Houghton classic hymn, "Facing a Task Unfinished," making the event the largest known one-day hymn sing. The event made international headlines, with over 5,400 churches taking part on 6 continents - from Bahrain and Australia to Bangladesh and China, and in dozens of major cities including Tokyo, Hong Kong, New York, London Singapore and Los Angeles.
"Last year's hymn sing saw more than a million believers gathered to sing as one voice all over the world and we are still amazed by the stories of how this inspired people to mission and evangelism," said Keith Getty. "As we move towards a second global hymn sing, our desire is to see even more churches come together and unite like never before and to inspire the generations coming behind us to a radical Christian witness. If the church isn't singing about missions, it likely isn't passionate about it. We want this event to be a catalyst to build deep believers who sing, speak, pray and go for the cause of the Kingdom."
"For the Cause" is the upcoming second release in the Getty Kids Hymnal album series, with a street date of June 16. The recording includes 12 hymns, old and new, celebrating the Gospel and designed to inspire children with songs to carry for life. Flavored with world music sounds, the album was recorded by the Getty band and five different children's choirs, from Africa, America, Colombia, India, and Ireland.
