Q: Congratulations on your new song and upcoming movie "I'm Not Ashamed." For our readers who may not be familiar with the movie, tell us briefly what the movie is about.
A: Thank you!!! I'm Not Ashamed is the story of Rachel Joy Scott and her inspiring story of standing up for Christ in the face of death
Q: What's your role in this movie?
A: I play the role of Chloe
Q: What is it about Rachel Joy Scott that inspires you personally?
A: What inspired me is her boldness and brave faith to stand up for what she believed in even if it would cost her life. She was about my age now when it happened, which makes it even more real to me.
Q: How do you think this movie will impact both Christians and non-Christians?
A: I believe it will impact everyone who will see it whether they are a believer or not. Truly standing up for what you believe in and not being ashamed is something we all can relate to. It will awaken the hearts of those who have either shied away from their faith or not spoken up for themselves.
Q: Let's talk about the song "I'm Not Ashamed." It's such a powerful song; did you write it? And what's the story behind it?
A: Yes! My dad encouraged me to write it. After I had read the script I was in tears. It had impacted me so much. I had a chorus idea and a melody, but I couldn't think of anything more. I was given Rachel's published diary and as I was looking through it, I found poems and lyrics all throughout the book. The song has Rachel's words and the prayer is word for word hers. Every time I sing it, I become overwhelmed by the fact God used her words and mine to create such an amazing creation.
Q: Are you also working on a full-length album as a follow-up to your single "I'm Not Ashamed?" If you are, give us some details on the direction of the new record
A: I am working on some new music! I'm starting to love the EDM and high-energy type music. Dancing has always been a passion of mine and I love having my music incorporate it.
Q: Being a Christian in the movie industry can be challenging, how do you stay focus on Jesus and still excel in all you do?
A: Jesus is my everything. Everyday I am in my devotion and reading what he has for me. It is hard to be in the industry and be a Christian. But I am rooted in who I am in Christ and everyday is an amazing journey living in a love that overflows to those around me. :)
