Rory Feek Not Ready to Order Headstone for Wife Joey & Make New Music

Half a year ago, Rory Feek lost his wife Joey. However, Rory is still grieving. He is not ready to order a headstone for his wife's grave. Neither is he ready to make a new album despite the fact that their last album Hymns that Are Important to Us was both a #1 chart topper on both the Christian and country charts.
In a revealing interview with CBS' "Sunday Morning" Rory says he can't bear to buy a headstone for her final resting place at their farm in Pottsville, Tenn.
"I don't know why, I just can't," Rory, 51, said in the interview. "I don't know if it's that she's so simple, and a wooden cross is part of what she would like. It probably has something to do with permanence. So, for now, I can sit out here and feel like it's - it's maybe just temporary. Although I know it's not."
Joey Martin Feek, age 40, went home to meet her Savior Friday, March 4th, 2016, around 2:30pm, in her native hometown of Alexandria, IN. A current resident of Pottsville, TN, with her husband, Rory, Joey was surrounded by family and close friends at the time of her passing. Joey had been fighting Stage IV cancer for nine months, surrounded by the love and support of countless family members, friends, loved ones, longtime followers of her music and even strangers who were inspired by her life.
The couple's final album Hymns is 2016's sixth biggest selling album among all genres, and the second-biggest country set (behind just Chris Stapleton'sTraveller, with 415,000). Hymns is the only Christian or gospel album to sell more than 100,000 copies in 2016. (Lauren Daigle's How Can It Be is in second place among the year's biggest Christian/gospel sets, with 91,000 sold.)
But Rory is not ready to make any new music. "I don't want to go on stage without her," he said. "That's what I'm thinking about right now. I just don't want to make music without her. But I also know time changes things. So I won't say never. It's just where I am today."
