11 Years Ago, Steve Green Released "Somewhere Between"

Eleven years ago, Dove award-winning Steve Green released his 25th studio project, Somewhere Between, on Sparrow Records. More than two years in the making, Somewhere Between presents an introspective and artistic path toward the universal question to God, "Where are You?" making this a project that has become Green's most expressive and revealing work in Green's 21-year career.
Produced by Greg Nelson, including contributions from Brian D. Sewer, Bernie Herms and Ron Huff, Somewhere Between offers echoes of Andrea Bocelli's modern classical sound, the theatrical pop overtones of Josh Groban and Steve Green's incomparable vocal gift in its rawest form. "Part of the excitement about this project is that I'm trying something different," the Grammy-nominated artist says. "Lyrically, it's an expression of hope and longing-in the most honest language I can offer-through the difficulties and hardships of life. I've covered a lot of information over the last 24 albums, the nature of which has been largely a declaration of objective truth. But this project asks questions."
Somewhere Between centers on where we live between the beauty and the tears.

The son of missionary parents, Steve Green was raised in South America. "My initial recognition of need for Christ was at age 8 while attending a boarding school in Argentina. On a Sunday afternoon, I knelt by my bed and prayed, trusting Jesus as my Savior. However, that was just the beginning of a grace-filled journey. Today the gospel is more precious to me than ever. I realize that God's grip on me far surpasses my ability to hold on to Him."
Green fondly remembers his fledgling beginning in 1984 when Steve Green Ministries was established. After two years in college, two years with the group TRUTH, and four years with the Gaithers, the door opened for Green to make his first recording with Sparrow Records.
Following a significant spiritual awakening, Steve Green began responding to invitations from churches all over America. "Looking back on it," Steve Green recalls, "I'm amazed at God's patience and condescending love. In my case it is certainly true that He seems to delight in choosing the least likely to be used in His Kingdom. I was full of zeal and determined to get it all right, but blind to much self-righteousness and pharisaical pride. Thank God for His mercy!"
Green desires the kind of spiritual growth that J. C. Ryle describes. "When I speak of a man growing in grace, I mean simply this - that his sense of sin is becoming deeper, his faith stronger, his hope brighter, his love more extensive, his spiritual mindedness more marked."
Throughout his years of ministry, Steve Green's music has been honored with four Grammy nominations, 13 No. 1 songs, and seven Dove Awards, Christian music's highest honor. With 33 recordings to his credit, including children's projects and Spanish-language albums, Green has sold over three million albums worldwide.
