The Hopper's Claude Hopper's Health: Update
Last week, Dean Hopper of Southern Gospel group the Hoppers took on social media to seek our prayers for his dad Claude Hopper who suffered a stroke. Now, he has given an update about Claude's condition:
"Claude and Connie Hopper made the trip home from Kentucky yesterday afternoon, safe and sound. Dad was released with all of his motor skills and brain activity at 100%. In other words, he is still Claude! He speaks in complete sentences, only struggling to form the final words. God has blessed us as this can be treated with some speech therapy. We are humbled by your support in prayer, and blessed beyond measure at the mildness of this incident."
Earlier, Dean writes: "Last evening, while on tour in Frankfort, KY, my father, Claude Hopper, suffered a small stroke. He was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital where he has spent the last 18 hours. Connie, who is by his side now, is blessed to announce that his speech and word formations were the only areas affected."
"We greatly appreciate your continual prayers for a speedy recovery."
Claude Hopper is a founder of the Hoppers. Claude serves on the Board of Directors for the National Quartet Convention, Southern Gospel Music's premier event, which takes place every September and boasts annual attendance in excess of 60,000 people. The Great Western Fan festival held in Fresno, California.
He is heavily involved with music publishing and founded the Hopper Brothers & Connie Publishing. In 1990, Claude received special recognition from Senator Jesse Helms and North Carolina Governor Jim Martin for his many contributions over the past three decades to the Gospel Music community. In 1999 He received his honorary degree of Doctor of Music from Oakland City University. He is also on the board of directors of First Bank in Mayodan, NC. And founding member of the North Carolina Gospel Music Hall Of Fame.
