Most Anticipated Christian Music Releases for May 2015
America's top-selling quartet Ernie Haase and Signature Sound returns on May 5th with "Happy People." This new album is their first recording of original material in over two yearrs. The title cut "Happy People" is based on Psalm 144:15 and is destined to be a delight among fans and critics alike.
Also coming out on May 5th is bluegrass songstress Lizz Long's first solo work. "Blueberry Pie" is a collection of new songs, beloved classics and original tunes. "This project is both the story and soundtrack of my life," states Lizzy. Fans will love the haunting arrangement of the Mary Poppins favorite, "Feed The Birds," the heartfelt and powerful duet with Rhonda Vincent, "God Is There," and the blazing finger work of the original, "Figueroa Mountain," featuring Sam Bush.
Fans of Hillsong Worship would be delighted to know that Mia Fieldes' brand new EP "Ashes" will drop on May 12. Fieldes first came to the music scene as the song leader and writer of Hillsong Worship. Currently, she is a worship leader in Nashville and she has co-written songs with Vertical Church Band, Michael W. Smith and many others. Her EP is preceded by the single "Fearless" which has received raved review here at Hallels.com.
May also sees the release of two Australian megachurches' worship albums. The first is from Melbourne: on May 12 "Outback Worship Sessions" finds Planetshakers partnering with Grammy nominated & multi Dove Award winning producer Ed Cash to capture a more acoustic, organic delivery of some of their best known songs. In addition, Ed and the Planetshakers team have crafted a new song, Spirit of God, that is featured. Fans will love the intimacy heard on these versions, and churches throughout the world will be adding these songs to their set lists for Sunday morning services.
A week later, Hillsong UNITED releases their much anticipated EMPIRES. This album follows ZION(2013), the group's most successful and fastest selling album to date, selling over 400k units, and includes the Platinum selling single, "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)." With over 1.7 million albums sold, and over 30 million people singing their songs every Sunday, UNITED has set a precedent in the church will only grow with the impact of EMPIRES. The debut single from EMPIRES, "Touch the Sky," premiered worldwide on iTunes and radio March 24.
