Because of this, she has become one of the most sought after Gospel artists of today.
We are so honored to be able to catch up with Ms. Norwood for this exclusive Hallels' interview.
Hallels: Thank you Dorothy for taking the tie to do this interview with us. How does it make you feel to have your latest album "An Incredible Journey" logging in at #2 on Billboard's Gospel Album chart?
Incredible!
Hallels: This is also your 52nd project! How has Gospel music changed since you started singing?
Oh, its changed tremendously. It reaches a larger span of people and I think it's great!
Hallels: What is the most incredible part of your journey all these years?
Of course touring with Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones. Also, to have been a member of the legendary Caravans. God has allowed me to create my own label after all these years, DNMG (Dorothy Norwood Music Group) what a blessing.
Hallels: On this new CD, you have quite a number of guests singing with you, can you tell us who some of them are?
My god niece the wonderful Dorinda Clark-Cole, VaShawn Mitchell, Melvin Williams, Roxanne Broadnax, Patrick Lundy and the Ministers of Music .
Hallels: I really love your cover of "Lean on Me," a song I wasn't expecting to hear on a worship album, but the way you sang it work out so well. Why did you decide to cover "Lean on Me"?
I always liked the song and I thought it should not only reflect on,leaning on each other but that we could lean on the everlasting arms of Jesus.
Hallels: Your current single is "Oh Jesus," for our readers who may not have heard it, what's the song about?
Its about my testimony. It simply tells it all .The name of Jesus is more powerful than any other name. When you are in distress and you can't pray a formal prayer, you can always call on the name of Jesus. Just cry out "Oh Jesus'. In the Christmas season when he was born, in the Easter season when he died, all the time it's all about Jesus. There is no other name.
Hallels: For our readers who would like to find out more about you or/and purchase the new album, where can they go?
It's in stores everywhere, Walmart and local records stores. Its online at iTunes, Amazon.com, Spotify and all of your favorite digital outlets. You can find out more about Dorothy Norwood at www.dorothynorwood.com
