iOS 8.1 Update Problems for iPhone 4: Apple Engineer Tips

It will be the least to say that Apple's new operating system update has been a little naughty over the last few days. Although it was launched to change the lives of people across the globe, for some it has become such a nightmare that most of them are rebooting or restoring phone to original condition.

As a matter of fact, the adoption rate is so slow that more 20% of the iPhone users are still on iOS 7 and just do not want to move ahead with the upgrade for a number of reasons. Now the problem is that you'd have to update to iOS 8.1 sooner or later and some of the Apple's tips might help with that.

One of the most critical troubles and frustrations is that this new update just does not finish. You choose 'download and install' and it seems like it will take forever. Apple suggests that you refrain from updating while traveling or doing something important. Make sure the update is planned and you have plenty of time, at least 3 hours, to keep the phone free from everything.

Now once this new iOS 8.1 update is installed, the next issues might arise. This will include battery drain, WiFi connectivity issues, cellular data failure and keyboard lag especially in iPhone 4S and 5C. Actually the problem with iOS 8 and iPhone 4S is that the configuration of this device is not that advanced and it cannot handle many of the operations.        

However, Apple engineers have suggested some of the ways to deal with the situation too. Once the update is complete, you should reset the network settings, keyboard dictionary, location, and privacy to make sure everything works fine. Settings > General > Reset should guide you through all of these options. It will take care of keyboard lag, automatic reboots, and network errors.

As for cellular data problems, turn that off and on to see if it's working fine. As a matter of fact, you might also want to update all the apps so they work in Phone 4S according to new software update.
