‘Modern Family’: Bowen on Domestic Abuse Case
When Sarah Hyland and Matthew Prokop broke up, it was not a big deal. However, following his come back from the rehab, a lot of rumors that popped up that Hyland had been in an abusive relationship with the star.
It’s a matter when a young star had suffered from abusive relationship, but it is another things if a star from the same television show brought up the story.
According to The Inquistr report, the “Modern Family” star had asked the help of Julie Bowen, the TV mom to split off with Prokop.
When she had shown up, Prokop freaked out and threathen Hyland as well as her dog, Barkley Bixby. From that point in time, Bowen asked Hyland to leave.
For the first time, Julie Bowen was hesistant to talked about the trial. During her interview, she had repeatedly noted that she was not so sure if she was allowed to talk about the issue. She added that her involvement in the issue was “exaggerated,” but she did not deny anything. Instead she downplay her involvement.
Furthermore, Bowen also mentioned that she loved Sarah and she wholeheartedly gave her support. What she had done was not really that special. There was nothing she could have done for anybody who was going through a break up. She also added that Sarah was an adorable and cute person that is why she gain a lot of attention on television.
During the incident, Prokop choked Sarah Hyland and pinned her in the car. After that, Hyland complained that she had suffered from sore throat following the argument with her ex-boyfriend.
Prokop sent Hyland a lot of disturbing texts and voice mails including threats. They had described the messages as “threatening, vile and emotionally disturbing.”
According to several reports, the abusive relationship thinned down when TMZ got documents from the court when Sarah filed and requested for a restraining order. The temporary restraining order was given as the case was being reviewed by the judge.
After that, Hyland was granted the restraining order for three years. Prokop was ordered to stay a 100 yards from Hyland, her dog and her home.
