Android 5.0 Lollipop: Another Sweet OS Upgrade for Nexus Devices, What will be the Tasty New Version has to Offer
Google's new update on the mobile operating system, Android, was just launched along the new Nexus line of products just this month. Android 5.0 or Android Lollipop packs new and improved features.
According to Tech Radar, the operating system was previewed back in the Google I/O developer last June. The Android 5.0 Lollipop was launched along with the Nexus Player, Nexus 6, and the Nexus 9.
The user interface was being given a whole overhaul using Material Design. The user interface will be the same across all the devices that runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. A flatter and minimalist design were made and the animations flow smoother. In the past versions of the Android, the status bar had a default color. In Android 5.0 Lollipop, the status bar can be now customized by using colors or changing the transparency depending if the application supports it.
According to PC Advisory, new stuff also made its way to the Quick Settings menu including cast screen controls, flashlight, and hotspot toggles. The menu for recent apps now shows apps stacked rather than a list. Messages can be replied to even on the lock screen while notifications can now float on top of other applications. Users will have the option to dismiss even without going to the home screen.
A kill switch is also included in the Android 5.0 Lollipop. The user will be able to wipe out data on the device by using their Google account. Encryption for the new devices is turned on by default to protect the user's data.
A new default application will also be added to the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Some say that it is just a simpler version of Google's Hangouts and will not be a replacement. Google announced that the Android 5.0 Lollipop will also be available for the Nexus 4, 5, 7, and 10 in the near future.
HTC One, both M8 and M7, will be receiving the Android update, according to HTC. The Moto X and the One Plus One will also be updated to the Android 5.0 Lollipop.
One strong feature of the Android 5.0 Lollipop is the seamless synchronization of all devices that run Android L. Songs, apps, or even photos can be viewed from one device to all your available devices, as noted in Android.
