Keanu Reeves Casting 'Doctor Strange': How the Award Winning Actor Responds to Possibility of Getting the Role of "Doctor Strange"
There is no denying the fact that Keanu Reeves has long been a household name. Even kids nowadays are familiar with this name, with the award-winning actor having portrayed lead roles in a number of box office hits and influential movies, based on comic book characters.
What characters, you say? As Screen Rant has enumerated, some of these where his characters from "The Matrix" and "Constantine," which was based on Hellblazer of DC Comics. In addition, as the Screen Rant has cited, "The Matrix" has spurred others to adapt comic books into films, with "X-Men" (Bryan Singer) and "Spider Man" (Sam Raimi) being two of the greatest examples.
Now that news about a Marvel Comics movie adaptation of "Doctor Strange" has been revealed to the public, many people are wondering if Scott Derrickson, who also directed the hit horror movie "Sinister", is going to cast the actor for the lead role. So, is there any chance of Keanu Reeves casting "Doctor Strange," especially after Joaquin Phoenix passed on the opportunity, as reported by Movie Web?
Well, the final answer is, of course, still unclear. However, as a great number of websites reported, they were able to get the side of Keanu Reeves regarding the possibility of him being casted for the "Doctor Strange" lead role.
According to Collider, which got the chance to talk to the actor, Reeves' stance on getting the role included his opinions of long term contracts, the quality of the material, and if he would actually be great for it.
"From a practical standpoint, the idea of a longtime contract is sort of 'err' because you want to make sure the material is up to a certain level. Like the good or great level," explained the actor to Collider's Evan Dickson. He also said that, "I like the idea. I go to those kinds of movies."
Keanu Reeves did say though during the interview that, as a character, he does not know "Doctor Strange" that way, since he did not get the chance to read it while he was still a kid. He concluded the part about the movie adaptation in the interview asking whether or not he would actually do good if he did get the role.
