Discover Our God-Given Potential Through Movie "Life of a King;" Watch Movie Trailer Here
Releasing on DVD August 19, 2014 is the brand new movie "Life of a King." This inspirational movie is based on a true story regarding one man's inspiring mission to better the future of inner-city youth in Washington, D.C. After being incarcerated for eighteen years, Eugene Brown (Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding, Jr.) established the Big Chair Chess Club to help pull kids off the streets. Using the simple chess-inspired motto "think before you move," Brown helped give troubles students something that he never had - a future.
One kid named Peanut shows potential for the future but his problem is that he hangs with the wrong crowd. One of the students, called Tahime (Malcolm M. Mays), has a real talent for Chess but refuses to get involved. When a tragic moment occurs, Tahime is interested, as he wants his life to count, although his own mother thinks that it's a joke for him to enter tournaments but Brown has full confidence in Tahime's talent.
The movie is directed by Jake Goldberger and it stars Academy Award Winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. (Jerry Maguire, American Gangster, Lee Daniels' The Butler), Golden Globe Nominee Dennis Haysbert (CBS' "The Unite", Fox's "24", Wreck-It Ralph) and LisaGay Hamilton (ABC's "The Practice", The Soloist, Beastly).
"Life of a King" is about the choices that people make and the consequences of those decisions. It also makes the point that it is never too late for a person to change paths and the ending is inspiring. We are awarding our Dove "Family-Approved" Seal to the film for ages twelve plus. "Life of a King" soars with the possibility of hope!
