Cory Asbury Apologizes to Forrest Frank, Emphasizes Grace and Growth Amid Viral Song Trend

Worship artist Cory Asbury has issued a heartfelt apology to fellow musician Forrest Frank after a recent social media parody sparked backlash. In an Instagram video posted on August 26, Asbury directly addressed Frank, saying, "I never meant to poke fun at anything that you were going through... I'm genuinely sorry for that."
The moment of reconciliation comes after Frank's recent viral success and personal testimony of healing. In July, Frank suffered fractures to his L3 and L4 vertebrae in a skateboarding accident. Just 14 days later, he announced what he described as a miraculous recovery, sharing medical scans that showed no remaining fractures. During his recovery, Frank released new music-including the track "Lemonade"-which quickly soared to No. 1 across all genres on Apple Music. His transparency and faith-filled response to hardship have resonated deeply with fans worldwide.
In response to parody versions of "Lemonade," Frank expressed that some renditions, including Asbury's, felt dismissive of his struggles. Frank later released the song "Misunderstood" to capture his perspective. Shortly after, Asbury acknowledged his mistake, explaining that he had joined a viral trend without realizing the personal impact it could have. His public apology stressed the importance of humility, grace, and moving forward with love.
Both artists remain active with new projects. Frank continues to share his healing journey and music with fans, while Asbury is preparing for upcoming performances following the release of his latest single and ongoing advocacy for authenticity within the Christian music industry.
This exchange between two influential voices highlights the power of accountability, forgiveness, and unity in the music community, even when missteps occur.
