Chuck Girard, Founding Member of Love Song, Shares Stage 4 Cancer Diagnosis

Chuck Girard, beloved pioneer of contemporary Christian music and founding member of the legendary band Love Song, has publicly shared a heartbreaking update regarding his health. Girard, 81, announced he has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, which has metastasized to his lungs.
The diagnosis was confirmed in the fall of 2024, and he began chemotherapy treatments in November. However, after several months, doctors determined the chemotherapy was not effective and discontinued the regimen. Girard is now pursuing alternative treatments and leaning fully on his faith during this challenging season.
"We are now pursuing other treatment options and praying for more time, but ultimately it's in the hands of God," Girard said in his personal message to supporters. "Karen [his wife] and I, and our whole family, are experiencing that peace which passes understanding. We are fully trusting in God's good plan."
With a music career spanning over five decades, Chuck Girard is widely recognized as a trailblazer of the Jesus Music movement. As a solo artist and with Love Song, his contributions helped shape the sound and spirit of modern Christian music. He is also the father of Christian apologist and author Alisa Childers, formerly of ZOEgirl.
Girard extended heartfelt gratitude to his fans and ministry partners, saying, "I want to thank each of you who have supported my music and ministry for over 50 years."
The Girard family is asking for continued prayers and support as they walk through this difficult time.
