Kelontae Gavin's "No Ordinary Worship" Sets Record Highs Across Multiple Charts
Hailed as "a live wire," for his stage presence and well-seasoned vocal gymnastics by The New York Times' Pop critic, Jon Caramanica,19-year-old YouTube sensation and Gospel Music newcomer Kelontae Gavin humble-beginnings are now paying off as this multi-faceted millennial worship leader continues to deliver a solid and commanding performance of his robust ballad "No Ordinary Worship,"with consecutive peak positions on Radio Airplay, Streaming and Digital Sales charts.
Spending its 14th consecutive week in the Top 20 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chartand reaching #13 in June 2018, "No Ordinary Worship" also reached its peak position landing at #13 (up from #15) in the June 30th issue of the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart. In the prior June 23rd reporting period issue of the Billboard Gospel Digital Sales Songs chart, it reached to #5 and currently spends its 6th consecutive week in the Top 10 on the chart. Since its September 2017 release, "No Ordinary Worship" has generated over 1.6 million on-demand streams and has a 5.2% increase this week with 180K streams.
"No Ordinary Worship" is written and produced by TedyP and star maker, Marquis Boone, who is well known in Gospel music circles for his ability to track down and groom promising young artists. The single is lifted from Gavin's eleven-track debut project THE HIGHER EXPERIENCE (Marquis Boone/Tyscot Records), which was recorded live at Fresh Start Church outside of Atlanta, GA. Released on April 27th, the album made its debut at #2 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart and currently spending 8 weeks in the Top 15 and 6 weeks in Top 10. THE HIGHER EXPERIENCE is the 6th highest Gospel Album Sales debut in 2018 to date.
The Stellar-Award nominated singer Gavin rose to stardom when a 2014 YouTube video of him singing the faith-filled classic "I Won't Complain"went viral. Moved by his passion and rich vocals, a cafeteria worker at his high school, recorded the song -unbeknownst to Gavin-and posted it online. The video went viral and amassed over one million YouTube views within days and catapulted the young singer's Gospel music career.
To date, Gavin has been profiled in The New York Times Newspaper, and made appearances on various television shows including, BET's Joyful Noise, TV One's Sister Circle,Gospel Superfest 1, CBN News and multiple local FOX, CBS and ABC affiliate talk shows to name a few.
