'Tarzan' On Big Screen in 2016; 'True Blood' Star Alexander Skarsgard Plays Title Character
"Tarzan" is an upcoming American 3D action adventure film, which is based on the famous fictional character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
The upcoming adventure film cast members include 2011 Breakthrough Performer Award Alexander Skarsgard as Tarzan, 2014 Empire Award Winner Margot Robbie as Jane Porter, Christopher Waltz as Captain Rom, Samuel Jackson as George Washington Williams, and Djimon Hounsou as Chief Mbonga. Other members of the cast include John Hurt, Osy Ikhilem, and Simon Russell Beale.
Aside from Tarzan, Alexander Skarsgard's 2014 projects are "True Blood", "Hidden", and "The Giver". He will also appear in the film "The Diary of a Teenage Girl", which also premieres in 2015. Leading lady Margot Robbie's other projects in the future are "Focus", "Z for Zachariah", "The Mountain Between Us", and the rumored "Ghost in the Shell".
The plot of "Tarzan" features the title character moving to London from the jungle together with his wife Jane Porter, plus his companions John Clayton III and Lord Greystroke, Christian Post has learned. Then Tarzan is tasked to go back to the jungle as a trade emissary of the Parliament. However, he does not know that he is only being used as a means to advance a plan plotted by Captian Leon Rom.
Meanwhile, Skarsgard spoke his thoughts about his role in the upcoming Tarzan movie in Vulture.
"The movie begins in London in the late 1800s, and he's already there, he's been there for about eight years with Jane, and then he goes back to the Congo where he was born and raised with Jane, so at least in the beginning, he's dressed as a British lord. And then a lot of things happen in Africa, obviously," he said.
According to Telegraph, the film is set to be directed by David Yates, who also piloted the four latest Harry Potter films. Yates will be piloting the movie together with Stuart Beattie, Craig Brewer, John Collee, and Adam Cozad, serving as writers.
The filming for the movie began last July. The forthcoming film is set to be distributed by Warner Bros and released in theaters and cinemas on July 1, 2016.
