Stryper Frontman Michael Sweet to Release Solo Album "I'm Not Your Suicide" and Autobiography in 2014
Stryper frontman Michael Sweet is stepping out on his own to release a new full-length studio album I'm Not Your Suicide. As a companion piece Sweet is also releasing his first autobiography Honestly: My Life and Stryper Revealed. Both are set for a May 6, 2014 launch date via BIG3 Records.
Fans can listen to a sneak peak of one of the album's singles "The Cause" courtesy of a lyric video, which premiered Tuesday at noon on several websites online. On his brand new website www.MichaelSweet.com fans can also preview Chapter One of the upcoming autobiography.
"After 30 years in this business, I feel honored and blessed to be able to continue doing what it is I love, making music," said Sweet. "I'm extremely thankful to have the greatest fans in the world. God has blessed me with this talent and I plan to continue on this path as long as I can draw breath."
Sweet, who is best known as the singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer for Christian rock band Stryper (over 10 million albums sold worldwide), has enjoyed a success solo career. From 2007-2011 Sweet served as the guitarist and backing singer classic rock band BOSTON.
After the passing of his first wife Kyle in 2009, Sweet remarried in 2010 to Lisa Champagne-Sweet, whom the singer describes as "a Godsend and the one who fits perfectly by my side.
Sweet continues to record and tour with Stryper and as a solo artist. Constantly in and out of Nashville, Sweet is collaborating with some of the most acclaimed writers in Music City.
The self-produced solo album I'm Not Your Suicide includes guest spots from TNT's Tony Harnell, Kevin Max (dcTalk, Audio Adrenaline, Chris Jericho and many more.
