Cheri Keaggy and Gavin MacLeod - Mutual Fans
The Love Boat was hugely popular on TV from 1977 to 1987. Fans recognized the theme song immediately and could identify each cast member at a glance. One such fan was Dove Award winner Cheri Keaggy and recently, she had a Captian Stubing moment at one of her shows!
Gavin MacLeod himself attended one of her concerts at Victory Christian Center in Rancho Mirage, California and became as big a fan of her as she was of him.
Before the concert, she was sitting in the congregation with her father, Mike Anderson. She glanced down the row and saw MacLeod. After the service, she was able to meet and spend time with MacLeoud and his wife.
In a press release, she shared how amazing the experience was, saying, "You never know who you might be singing to. Boy, was I surprised to see Captain Stubing of Love Boat fame sitting right there in the front row! I used to watch that show when I was young. After church, we were able to eat lunch with the MacLeods and hear more about their amazing story. Now, not only can I say, 'Captain Stubing gave me a standing ovation and bought my CD!' But, I can say we shared a meal, and talked about life and our mutual love of God as fellow brothers and sisters in Christ," Keaggy added, "and that was truly special."
