Chart Rewind: Hillsong Worship’s “What a Beautiful Name” Returned to No. 1 in September 2019

Hillsong Worship's anthem "What a Beautiful Name" reclaimed the spotlight on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart during September 2019, holding the No. 1 position for three of the four weeks in the month (September 2, 23, and 30). The track, which has become one of the most recognized worship songs globally, demonstrated its enduring resonance with listeners as it briefly ceded the top spot to Lecrae featuring Tori Kelly's "I'll Find You" on September 9 and 16 before returning to No. 1.
Since its release, "What a Beautiful Name" has continued to be sung in churches worldwide, earning accolades including a GRAMMY® Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song. Its September 2019 chart dominance underscored the song's lasting impact and influence within Christian music, cementing its place as one of the defining worship anthems of the decade.
Today, Hillsong Worship continues to expand its reach through both music and ministry. Hillsong Church recently released its End-of-Year 2024 Mission Impact Report, followed by a Mid-Year 2025 update, highlighting global outreach initiatives and stories of transformation. These reports testify to the movement's ongoing commitment to serving communities and spreading the message of hope through practical action and faith.
In early 2025, Hillsong San Francisco announced that it would become an independently run church, reflecting a period of strategic realignment within the Hillsong global network. At the same time, Hillsong's music ministry has entered a new season of creativity and growth. Matt Crocker, a longtime voice with Hillsong UNITED and Hillsong Worship, released his debut solo album interlude on June 27, 2025. The 11-track project blends worship with innovative artistry and has already reached more than 1.6 million combined streams from its lead singles. Meanwhile, Hillsong Worship leaders such as Taya Smith and Jonathan "JD" Douglass have shared that their music and faith feel more authentic than ever, resonating deeply in this new chapter of ministry.
Hillsong Worship remains one of the most influential worship collectives in the world, known for songs such as "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)," "Who You Say I Am," and "What a Beautiful Name." With a legacy of creating music that inspires devotion and faith, Hillsong Worship continues to impact both the global Church and individual believers through songs that carry timeless truths.
