Jason Aldean Partners With 13-Year-Old DJ Daniel to Raise $200,000 For Heroes for Children

Grammy-nominated, award-winning entertainer Jason Aldean brought his FULL THROTTLE Tour to a sold-out crowd at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston on Friday (8/15), but before taking the stage, Aldean made time for an unforgettable local cause.
Earlier in the day, Aldean joined Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel, members of the Houston Astros, and families supported by Texas-based non-profit Heroes for Children for a day of mini-golf at Puttshack and baseball fun. The event was capped by Aldean's surprise donation of $200,000 to Heroes for Children, made possible through his partnership with Full Throttle tour sponsor Patriot Mobile.
The special event began after a heartfelt online plea by 13-year-old DJ Daniel, a Houston native and pediatric cancer fighter, who earlier this year asked in a video: "Hey, does anybody know Jason Aldean? Because we're trying to do a country show down here to raise money for kids with cancer." Aldean, who saw the video while with friend and fellow artist Darius Rucker, quickly promised to meet DJ and help bring his mission to life.
At Friday's gathering, kids and families affected by cancer not only enjoyed mini-golf with Aldean, but also got a once-in-a-lifetime baseball experience. The Houston Astros hosted families at batting practice, arranged player meet-and-greets, and gifted tickets to a future game. Hall of Famers Roger Clemens and Jeff Bagwell also joined the day's festivities, playing golf and taking photos with children and families.
Later that night, Aldean welcomed DJ to the Full Throttle Tour stage, where the teen shared his story of survival, spoke about how Heroes for Children has supported him, and encouraged thousands in attendance to get involved-while also delivering jokes that had the audience roaring.
DJ was diagnosed with a rare form of brain and spinal cancer and told nearly eight years ago that he had just five months to live. Since then, he has undergone more than a dozen surgeries and devoted his life to raising awareness and support for other children fighting cancer.
Founded by Jenny Lawson and Larissa Linton, who both lost children to cancer, Heroes for Children ensures that no family faces childhood cancer alone by providing critical support, resources, and community care.
