Lauren Daigle Surprises Camp Mystic Survivor Who Rewrote “Hallelujah” in Tribute to Fallen Campers

Two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Lauren Daigle delivered an emotional surprise yesterday on FOX & Friends, meeting Skyler Derrington, a 12-year-old survivor of the tragic Camp Mystic flood in Kerr County, Texas.
In the wake of the devastating flash flood on July 4, 2025, which claimed the lives of at least 27 campers, counselors, and the camp's owner, Skyler turned her grief into a powerful tribute by rewriting the lyrics to Leonard Cohen's iconic "Hallelujah." Her version, reflecting on the tragedy and her enduring faith, quickly went viral, touching hearts across the nation.
During her live performance of the song on FOX & Friends, Skyler was overcome with emotion as her favorite artist, Lauren Daigle, walked on stage to meet her. Daigle embraced the young singer and praised her resilience:
"You took the tragedy and you turned it into something incredible... you turned it into something beautiful. That, to me, is so telling of your faith-so telling of the hope that you have in Jesus," said Daigle.
Skyler, who has been a long-time fan of Daigle's music, said meeting her was a dream come true. The heartfelt exchange was a moving moment of encouragement for the survivor, who continues to inspire others with her story of courage and hope.
The rewritten version of "Hallelujah" has resonated deeply with audiences, with lyrics that honor the memory of those lost while pointing to the healing power of faith. Skyler's performance and Daigle's surprise appearance underscore the strength of community and the beauty of finding hope in the midst of tragedy.
