Marvin Sapp's Tiny Desk Concert Hits One Million Views in Two Weeks

When Marvin Sapp was booked to close out NPRs Black History Month programming with a Tiny Desk Concert, there was an expectation that it would be a big cultural moment, but the set is outperforming what anyone could have imagined. In just two weeks, Marvin Sapp's Tiny Desk Concert amassed 1 million views, and continues to be a viral sensation on social media. Additionally, the set was the 12th most viewed video on YouTube only hours after it debuted.
"This is surreal," says Sapp. "I'm just soaking in the fact that people are responding so much to this Tiny Desk Concert. I had a lot of fun doing it and was honored by the invitation. Still, this response is beyond my wildest imagination."
Media outlets and personalities are talking about Marvin Sapp's Tiny Desk Concert. Jemele Hill said it was "brilliant of NPR" to have Sapp on, and that he "tore the cover off the mic." During a recent interview with Sapp, Ricky Smiley applauded the set and said that he "snapped" during his Tiny Desk Concert. Additionally, mainstream urban outlets such as Vibe and The Grio have written about Marvin Sapp's Tiny Desk Concert.
