Christian Music Artists Call for Prayers in the Midst of the California Wildfires

California wildfires

In the wake of devastating wildfires sweeping through California, Christian music artists have taken the time to pray for those affected by the fires. Dry conditions and 90 mph coastal winds have made containing the fires increasingly difficult despite the efforts of emergency personnel. The combination of fires-Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, Lidia, and Sunset-have damaged over 2,000 structures, displaced over 130,000 people and tragically taken the lives of at least five individuals

Steven Curtis Chapman:

Can't stop thinking about and praying fervently for so many (including many close friends) who are dealing with the devastating fires in California. It seems like one of those times when we want to respond but our words are just not enough for the depth of sadness and difficulty. My encouragement is to just keep praying for peace & protection, remembering what Psalms 34:8 tells us..."The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." And ask God, "how can I best be a conduit of your love...how can I be your hands and feet in moments like these?"

Maverick City Music:

God, we ask for You to be near to our friends and family impacted by the wild fires and winds in Los Angeles. We ask for Your mercy and protection. Please bring comfort. Grant strength to the first responders and those battling the flames. You are our Peace when peace makes no sense. You are our Waymaker when there seems to be no way. You are our Refuge and Strength when we have nothing else. Holy Spirit, be close to family in LA. Thank You for being faithful, Lord.
Amen.

Matthew West:

Praying for everyone impacted by the devastating fires in California. May God protect the first responders and be near to those in the areas affected.

Tauren Wells:

Join me in praying for the state of California as wildfires spread across the Pacific Palisades. Believing for God's hand of protection on the residents and the emergency responders helping those impacted.

Jonas Myrin:

A fire broke out not too far from my house, but thanks to the incredible Los Angeles fire department, they were able to contain it. So grateful for everyone, who's reached out - your love, care and kindness means the world.

My home is safe, and I'm okay, but so many in our community have been affected, and the damage is heartbreaking.

Let's keep praying for LA.. For the ones who've lost their homes, and for all the firefighters out there risking their lives to keep us safe.

Rita Springer:

I was born in Pasadena, California and spent my entire young life, a Californian. It has been devastating and heartbreaking, to say the least, watching these fires destroy the lives and homes of so many people.

For those of us that have deep faith in God, we understand the power of prayer. Can I encourage you to be very careful how you spout off about God's judgment in moments like these. I look at things like this as circumstances beyond our control. I think the most beautiful side of our humanity can come out in moments like this. We have the chance to become beautiful as we reach out to give and pray and love and be the shoulder to lean on for those suffering. In every disaster look to be in the storyline or be ready to be lifted by the storylines that breed humility into our humanity!

Let's watch God listen to prayers that may have been uttered for the first time in someone's life. Let's get ready for the miracles that aftermath brings. Let's create a community of love and giving that abolishes selfishness and releases the great spirit of generosity. Hold your tongue and your opinion and bend your knees or extend your hand to hold and comfort and become the true nature of the kind Jesus we know..who is in the middle of all of this, weeping with people and listening to their prayers. Thats the real Church! Community is the real Church!

So, be the real Church! Can we all agree to just become the hands and feet of Jesus and show the side of him that stands with those in the fire and is the one who will send the rain!
