Perry LaHaie Releases Compellingly New Single, "Crashed into Grace (Acoustic Version)"
Frontiers singer/songwriter and morning drive-time radio host Perry LaHaie has released a compellingly beautiful new single, "Crashed Into Grace (Acoustic Version)," a song which has touched hearts around the world since its original release in 2023 with full band production.
"'Crashed Into Grace' is my autobiography," says LaHaie. "The story of an 18-year-old kid trying to make a name for himself. Trying to heal the wounds of shame through earthly acclaim. Only to crash head-long into Jesus, who gave me, in a moment, what my heart most longed for, what I would never have found on my own: Himself."
"Crashed Into Grace (Acoustic Version)," released today, Friday, September 20, 2024, was recorded at Yackland Studio in East Nashville, owned by veteran Nashville producer Stephen Leiweke (Jars of Clay, Chris Tomlin, Yancy, Point of Grace, Cindy Morgan, Chris Sligh), and produced by Leiweke and Jake DeJarnett.
"I really love how well the song still communicates with just a simple instrumentation," says Leiweke. "Just a guitar and Perry's voice still gives me all the feel and meaning that the song has with the full band."
"The acoustic version of "Crashed Into Grace" really captures the sounds and stories that have worked their way into my heart over a litetime," says LaHaie. "The raw acoustic guitars and gutsy B3 organ. The pristine electric guitars and the Bruce Hornsby-esque piano, the honest lyrics, a story of redemption that takes you to a place you long for, or that feels like home."

The Story Behind "Crashed Into Grace (Acoustic Version)"
It was April, my senior year in high school and I headed to the gym to play hoops with my guys.
I wasn't looking for Jesus, I was dreaming of a scholarship to play college basketball.
I was looking to better my game.
I wasn't expecting to suffer an excruciating ankle sprain. My friends carried me home, laid me on the couch, and I asked mom to pray.
I was just looking for some relief from the pain and Jesus took care of that in an instant. But then he gave me something I didn't expect at all. He touched the shame in my heart that I had buried deep. He embraced me knowing the worst about me. Then he said, "I love you." And then, "follow me." And I did.
That night was like a massive crash. I was running hard, going my way, chasing my future. And Jesus came running hard, straight at me, blowing apart my selfish, arrogant plans to give me a future not my own.
I didn't find Jesus that night. He found me."
