CeCe Winans Made History at the 2022 GMA Dove Awards

CeCe Winans took home two trophies on Friday's 2022 GMA Dove Awards. Winans was given the evening's top honor, artist of the year, capping a strong year that saw Winans' inspirational "Believe for It" spend 12 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart and reach No. 7 on Christian Airplay. During the GMA Dove Awards, "Believe for It" was named song of the year.
Winans made Dove Awards history this year as the first Black female solo artist to win Artist of the Year. When accepting her award, instead of an acceptance speech, she sang a few lines from the hymn "To God Be The Glory," moving many in the audience to tears. Throughout her incredible career, CeCe has won a staggering 25 Dove Awards including the very first New Artist of the Year award in 1988 with her brother BeBe Winans.
Winans says, "It's amazing when we come together and we love each other and we stand for righteousness, it's amazing what God will do. It's amazing what He's already done. But He wants to do so much more. I'm believing for God to move in this industry greater than He ever has before. The God we serve responds to faithfulness and the testimonies I've heard through this song have blessed my life. I want us to understand that the God of miracles is still working miracles. So keep believing."
Winans took on social media to offer her thanks. "Thank you Jesus Christ! Every good gift comes from you for your glory! To my Husband, Alvin Love, thank you for filling my life with Love! Thank you Alvin III, Ashley, Kenny and Wyatt for bringing me great joy! Thank you to all of you who took out time to vote for me. To my awesome team: Thank you all for your love, unity and hard work!!"
The 53rd Annual GMA Dove Awards were handed out Tuesday night, October 18th, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee to a sold-out audience. The show aired tonight, Friday, October 21st, exclusively on TBN and was simulcast on SiriusXM The Message. Co-hosts Erica Campbell and Chris Tomlin led the all star night of music with performances from across the community including Gospel, Latin, hip hop and Southern Gospel.
