Kat Vasquez Opens Up About Finding Our Identity in Christ, Her New Book, Her Artwork & More
Award winning journalist, author, TV host, producer and speaker Kat Vasquez has just released her brand new book REIGN: Restoring Identity on September 22. REIGN is a 40-day quest discovering who God made you to be. Understanding our true identity as sons and daughters of God is a game changer. We are citizens of heaven living on early, the mold was broken with us. God knows who you are, the enemy knows who you are, but do you know who you are?
Through daily scripture readings, prayer declarations and creative exercises, readers learn how to live as His children and activate their divine purpose.
Kat and her husband Jorge are the founders of Revolution Media Ministries, which includes the Your Story Is Not Done film series, the Backstory Podcast, the Your Story is Not Done and No More Rejection books. For over 15 years, the couple have answered their call to evangelize to the lost, energize and equip the body while empowering the Church to do the same. Passionate, practical, and a little bit rock n' roll, they amplify hope by sharing stories of redemption, healing, and second chances.
Q: Kat, thank you for doing this interview with us. Let's start with yourself: tell us a little about the ministry you and your husband have.
Revolution Media Ministries is the parent organization of The Revolution TV (broadcast for 14 seasons), and film project called Your Story Is Not Done. Jorge & Kat are media missionaries and authors who speak, empowering others to step into their God-given giftings.
Q: You have just released a new book "Reign." Tell us briefly what is this book about?
It's a 40 day quest discovering who we are as sons and daughters of God and collectively who we are *together as the Bride of Christ arising-we are called to pull heaven's culture down to earth!
Q: What led you to write "Reign"?
It started as journal entries during a healing journey in my life, coming out of a very traumatic season having been caught in the cross-hairs of verbal and emotional abuse. The abuse had taken a toll, but I kept the channel open to the Lord, asking Him the painful questions. The key ask was, "How do you see me?" I journaled, what He began to show me, and day after day, week after week, I noticed a profound blueprint. We are not only children of God, but brothers and sister to the Firstborn son, Jesus Christ. When we invite him in as Lord of our life, everything changes. Not only was it transformative for me personally, seeing my worth, capabilities and purposes in a whole new light, but I started seeing the bigger picture. The Bride of Christ, who was a collective of the Church, fully functioning in our talents, synchronized to Father's heart, thoughts and will-this is how we partner with heaven. It's not just for our own heart's healing and freedom, but for the world practically! We are called the Hope of the nations!
Q: What does the Bible say is our identity in Christ?
We are sons and daughters of God. We are brothers and sisters to the Firstborn son, Jesus Christ. He said, greater works you will do, and we have access to everything Calvary afforded us-it's in HIM. As He is the Hope of the world, we are the Hope of the nations because of: Isaiah 60 tell us that the Lord rises upon us, nations and kings will come to our light. Romans 8:19 We are the restorer of creation. Revelation 5 says because of HIs blood, He purchased for God those from every tribe and tongue, and made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign up on the earth.
Q: Tell us about the artwork in the book; I believe you created each piece?
I used to work with a designer who commissioned my work, I hadn't painted in years. But earlier this year I felt the Lord was calling me to pick my brush back up for a new purpose. I started seeing my time painting as worship. I invited the Lord into the process, and with piece emerging it felt like God was speaking to me. Each piece had a message about our idea as HIS.
My personal artwork will be available on TheReignbook.com as prints to purchase. REIGN Art birthed during worship and prophetically inspired.
Q: What do you hope readers will take away from the book?
Sharing the message of our real identity in Christ and helping others get set free, to live fully alive as a son and daughter of God and be motivated by Father's heart to carry out heaven's strategies in their areas of influence.
Q: What is next for you?
We are in active production for Your Story Is Not Done, a film series available on ROKU and Prime. The fourth film, featuring Jonathan Cain from the rock band Journey comes out this December.
