Glenn Meadows, Mastering Engineer for Amy Grant, Elvis Presley, Carman & Others, Dies
Glenn Meadows, one of Nashville's best known engineers, has died at the age 68, following a brief illness. Meadows had engineered records by many Christian artists, including Amy Grant, Steve Camp, Carman, Kim Hill, David Meece and many others.
He had also worked with countless country and rock music artists too, including Elvis Presley, Dan Fogelberg, Alabama, John Schneider, Randy Travis, Taylor Swift, Reba McEntire, Lee Greenwood, Hank Williams Jr., and many others.
Based in Music City since 1975, he ran Masterfonics beginning in 1989. In 2011, he joined Mayfield Mastering. During the vinyl era, he was a lacquer cutting engineer who signed his work with Glenn, Glen, GAM or GM etched in the runout area of the disc.
In 2019, the Nashville chapter of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) honored Glenn Meadows with the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in Mastering Engineering. The honor took place at an awards ceremony held at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum.
Funeral arrangement have not been announced.
