Anne Wilson is the First Female Soloist to Score a No. 1 with Her Debut Song
Nineteen year-old Anne Wilson makes chart history. She is the first female soloist to score a #1 on Billboard's Christian Airplay chart with her debut single "My Jesus." This week, "My Jesus" is spending its third week on the pole position. "My Jesus" was written by Wilson with Jeff Pardo and Matthew West. The song is from Wilson's first EP, My Jesus (Live in Nashville). The five-song set was recorded live at the White Dove Barn in Nashville.Wilson is now working on her first studio LP.
"I've been blown away by how God has been using 'My Jesus' to impact so many lives," Wilson told Billboard after hitting No. 1 on Hot Christian Songs. "I'm so honored that He chose me to be His vessel for this specific time and season. I would've never dreamed that God would use this song in such a mighty way."
Never one to take her success for granted Wilson is filled with gratitude for her #1 single. She writes, "There will never be words to describe this moment that I just had an hour ago on zoom. I just found out that "My Jesus" went number one and I'm at a loss for words. I'm undone by how God has used my story of brokenness and turned it into something so beautiful. I would have never dreamed that my song would go number one but I'm so grateful because I know that God is using it in a big way to impact the world. Thank you God for all of this. I am so undeserving but man am I grateful. All glory goes to YOU."
Besides God, she also shows her appreciation for her family and supporters. "Thank you mom, dad, and Elizabeth for being my number one supporters. Thank you to my sweet brother in heaven for supporting me from up there and never leaving my side. I believe you are able to see all of this and what God has done."
Fans will be able to connect in person this fall as she can be seen on the Big Daddy Weave "All Things New" tour. She will also make her Opry stage debut next month on September 4th. Wilson continues to write and record new music as she prepares for a full-length debut down the road.
