Chrishan and Danielle Jeyaratnam to Replace Carl Lentz as the New Senior Pastors of Hillsong NYC

Hillsong Church's Global Senior Pastor Brian Houston has announced on Sunday that Chrishan Jeyaratnam and his wife, Danielle, will replace Carl Lentz as the senior pastors of Hillsong East Coast. Lentz was sacked last year following a much publicized sex scandal. Houston announced the appointment during Hillsong's Vision Sunday service.
"Everybody knows, certainly most people would know, toward the end of last year, it's been a very challenging season at Hillsong in the United States, in particular in the East Coast New York," Houston began.
"We're still working our way through that, and I sure would love all the prayer warriors and intercessors and everybody else in our church to be praying for that church and the East Coast because it has been hit hard. But I know God is gonna rebuild. He rescues, and He restores and He rebuilds."
Currently, Chrishan and Danielle serve as the State Oversights for Hillsong's Western Australia and Bali Campuses. Chrishan has grown up in Hillsong Church, attending since he was seven, and Danielle has been a member since her senior years in high school. Over the years the couple have served in various areas of church life, including young adults, youth, Sisterhood and campus pastoring at Hillsong City Campus in Sydney. They have four beautiful daughters and are committed to loving God, loving people and loving the adventure of building His church.
An investigation by a New York law firm into the Lentz dismissal has been completed, but has not been made public. Houston said the investigation found "significant ways" the NYC megachurch had "failed to reflect Hillsong global culture," according to journalist Julie Roys' report.
"Every Hillsong location must honour our commitment to creating a caring and healthy environment for our team, volunteers and members," Houston wrote to Hillsong East Coast members in an email. "Under the previous lead pastor, this was not always the case."
