Russell Easter of the Easter Brothers Dies

Russell Easter, long-time member of The Easter Brothers, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the age of 90, at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy, NC. Russell was one third of the legendary group, the Easter Brothers and the grandfather of current Jeff and Sheri instrumentalist, Jared Easter. Jeff and Sheri Easter honored Russell on their set at the National Quartet Convention Tuesday evening in Pigeon Forge TN.
In the early 1950's Russell and his two brothers, Edd and James, formed The Easter Brothers, who toured together for over 50 years and garnered strong fan bases in bluegrass gospel, country gospel, and southern gospel musical genres. This group penned and made famous some of the most popular and enduring songs in all of gospel music, including "They're Holding Up The Ladder," "Heart That Will Never Break Again," and their timeless classic, "Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me."
Funeral services are set for Friday, October 2nd at 11 a.m. at Miracle Waters Worship Center with the Rev. Rodger Easter officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at Miracle Waters Worship Center in Mount Airy, NC.
