Transformers 5 Spoilers: Second Installment of the Second Trilogy, Movie Ready by 2016
On June 12, even before "Transformers 4: Age of Extinction" has hit the theater screens, Paramount Pictures has already released to the press their lineup of movies to be scheduled for showing in 2015 and 2016. Notably, Transformers 5 is included in their lineup of films for 2016 screening, along with GI Joe 3, Star Trek 3, Hansel and Gretel 2, Paranormal Activity 5, Ben Hur, and Beverly Hills Cop 4.
Transformers 4 is the first in a new set of trilogy that has been planned for the Hasbros Transformers toy-based science fiction series. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Michael Bay confirmed, "It's kind of like a new Transformers. We had three, the first trilogy, and this is going to be the next one. Yeah, it's the first of a new trilogy."
Being next in line in the new trilogy, Transformers 5 will therefore likely take off from where "Age of Extinction" left us - that is, with a very disappointed Optimus Prime, with "seed" in hand, flying off into outer space to search for answers from the mysterious Creators. Who are these Creators? Why did they send Lockdown to take him as prisoner? Remember, in the Transformers mythology, Primus is the creator god of the Transformers universe. His form is manifested physically as a sentient planet known as Cybertron. He has a twin - Unicron, who is the embodiment of chaos and destruction. Together, Primus and Unicron bring balance to the universe. Wow! Will we get to see them and some inter-galactic, inter-dimensional action in Transformers 5, just like in the last Thor movie? We sure hope so.
Transformers 4: Age of Extinction, despite being heavily thrashed by critics, is still raking it in at the box-office. It reportedly earned over $302 million worldwide just during its first weekend run.
