Kari Jobe Writes a 7-Day Devotional Based on Her Songs

Worship leader and songwriter Kari Jobe is writing a 7-Day Devotional on Facebook. Each day she will write a short devotion that has its seed thought from one of her songs. Jobe, the 34-year-old Christian contemporary music singer for the Southlake, Texas, church, posted a devotional for her song "I Am Not Alone" for her 1 million Facebook followers.
Here is her first devotional entry:
I Am Not Alone Devotional
Scriptures: Isaiah 43:1-2, Luke 12:37, Psalm 56:8, Isaiah 7:14
We all experience pain and sadness, times when we feel alone. Some of the songs that minister to me the most are the one's that remind me God is still there, He see's me, knows the number of hairs on my head and has caught every tear I've cried (Luke 12:37, Psalm 56:8).
I love what Isaiah 43:1-2 (NKJV) says, "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you."
What a sweet reminder. We are His and no matter what we may go through on this side of Heaven, we are never alone. Our God goes before us and is forever Immanuel, God with us (Isaiah 7:14).
Fans have responded positively to Jobe's devotions based on her songs. One reader writes: "Thank you... My husband is in the fight for his life being diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer and in need of a transplant and I was diagnosed just over a year ago with Lupus . This song has comforted me greatly."
Another writes: "This song was the last song I heard as I was facing what turn out to be my second and third brain surgery in 2014 my heart could have been overwhelmed I was there physically by myself for 53 days through my birthday the holidays and the New Year. I refuse to allow negtavie thinking control. I would replay this song in my mind over and over again Thank you so much Kari you are a Blessed Woman of God."
