"Passion: Salvation's Tide Is Rising" Debutted at No. 3 on Billboard's Digital Albums Chart
Passion Worship's brand new worship release Passion: Salvation's Tide Is Rising debutted at No. 3 on Billboard's Digital Albums Chart and No. 6 on Billboard's Top Albums Chart. The album also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Christian Albums Chart, making it the seventh Passion release to do so.
Featuring Chris Tomlin, Crowder, Matt Redman, Christy Nockels, Kristian Stanfill, Melodie Malone, Brett Younker and Jimi Cravity, the worship anthems were introduced to more than 40,000 18-25 year olds at Passion 2016 conferences held in Houston and Atlanta arenas January 2-4.
Here's an excerpt of our review of the album: "While the title cut "Salvation's Tide" may be an operatic blowout, Melodie Malone's "Simple Pursuit" drops into an almost acapella stroll. Hauntingly powerful calling to mind Francis Thompson's famous poem "The Hound of Heaven," God's relentless pursuit of us gets a raw and lacerating exposition. Matt Redman, as expected, doesn't disappoint. However, this time, he only gets to contribute one song and it's easily one of the album's best. "I Turn to Christ" bears all the signature imprints of Redman's ballads with its cinematic build-ups and the song's Christ-centered lyrics. Christy Nockels' "Your Grace Amazes Me" is this record's big ballad matched with her big voice flavoured with a ceremonial noir calling to mind Nockels' "My Anchor.""
During Passion 2016, students donated $811,813 to help construct a hospital in war-torn Syria. Once completed, the hospital will serve 12,000 women and children each year and will offer one of the few neonatal intensive care units in the country. Also making an impact locally, students filled bins with thousands of towels and socks - two of the most needed items at homeless shelters - upon arrival at each Passion 2016 location.
Physical copies of Passion: Salvation's Tide Is Rising will be available January 29.
