iOS 8.1 Review: iPhone 6 - Is It Really Worth Installing?
There are mixed reactions when Apple released the latest version of iOS 8. Some are a bit disappointed while many users are happy and excited to install it as this comes with fixes and new features. But, is it really worth installing?
According to GottaBeMobile, iOS 8.1 update for iPhone 6 is a sizable upgrade, which is jam packed with new fixes and features for those who were disappointed with the iOS 8. However, it also have several bugs of its own, yet these are not major compared to the previous upgrades.
In terms of performance, iOS 8.1 got it all. With its new feature Apple Pay, many are now enjoying paying what they purchased wirelessly and with ease and convenience. Based on Apple Insider, this is the best payment platform that Apple has ever made. To use this, what users only have to do is to confirm their details through Touch ID sensor that completes the purchase. As of now, there are over 200,000 stores who accept Apple Pay.
When it comes to battery life on iPhone 6, iOS 8.1 has been working out well. Many users are glad with their device's battery life even if they use Wi-Fi and 4G LTE at the same time.
There are also new features for Messages application that users can enjoy and this include the ability of users to receive and send SMS and MMS text messages from their iMac and iPad. The iOS 8.1 update also resolves a problem where search would sometimes not show results and this repairs the bug that cause read messages to not be marked as read. Issues with group messaging were also fixed with this update.
The good news with iOS 8.1 is that it appears to be stable. It also eradicated some of the iOS 8 problems, which most users have encountered.
According to Arstechica, iOS 8.1 should not be compared to iOS 7.1 that gestated for six months and was vetted in a total of five separate beta builds. Still, it introduces some new features that will definitely give users an exceptional mobile experience. Overall, iOS 8.1 is much stable and useful OS.
